Brea moved to LA in the winter of 2008 with the intent to tackle two new acting frontiers: television and studio feature film. But back up nine weeks. While tying up loose ends in NYC before the Big Move, Brea gets a call to read for Bob Lambert, a casting director for All My Children. Brea reflects, "That positive audition experience led to my seven episode stint as "Nurse Margie" on All My Children. Over my seven summer days on the AMC set, I was fortunate enough to work with Cameron Mathison, Alicia Minishew (an Esper grad, I discovered) and Susan Lucci. Actually it was my first foray into American TV, and it's been real."
Then, a few days later, still in NYC, Brea was cast in her first lead role in a feature film, “Kim Gurman” in Bronx Paradise. Bronx Paradise is now making its rounds in the festivals, including the Hollywood Black Film Festival, The British Film Fest, The Egypt Int'l Festival,The NY Independent Int'l Festival, among others, and has won 11 awards to date.
After a short while in LA, Brea signed with two agents and a manager. James Boyle of The Atherton Group, CESD Talent -- the top commercial agent, and Melanie Sharp of Sharp Talent. The day after signing with The Atherton Group, Brea got her first audition: Days of Our Lives. She landed the guest lead role of "Daphne," a sexy French journalist. And then a stage role in Spirit of a Woman, where Brea performed a monologue she wrote. And then a Independent Spirit nomination and LA Film Festival win for Prince of Broadway, which she filmed while in New York.
